When Sue Brown, Realtor Broker assists a buyer or seller she takes their very best interests to heart and reacts accordingly. Her success is easy to measure since Sue has been the Island's Top Producing Realtor since 2007 for North and South Kona (the area extending from the Kona Airport through to the South Kona/Kau Districts boundary.) In 2007 she was chosen as Realtor of the Year by the West Hawaii Association of Realtors and in 2011, 2014, & 2016-2018 she was listed among the state's top 100 realtors in Hawaii Business Magazine and is recognized in their Hall of Fame for 2007-2018. Sue was also recognized in 2019 as a Top 100 Realtor for Hawaii Island by the Hawaii Business Magazine. In addition she is listed as among the Most Real Estate Transactions for 2015-2018.
In November 2019, Sue was awarded one of the inaugural Kupono REALTOR Awards sponsored by the West Hawaii Association of Realtors, West Hawaii Today and Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union. The Kupono REALTOR Awards honors and publicly recognizes Realtors who have provided exceptional customer service to their clients while maintaining the highest ethical standards. Clients who closed transactions within the award period were able to submit nominations on behalf of their Realtors and the winners were then chosen by the judges committee. Five winners were chosen from 29 nominees and over 120 submissions.
Sue attributes her successful real estate career to having a positive attitude, understanding the market, and from being a long time and active resident of Kona. "Much of my business comes from referrals and repeat business from satisfied clients", she said.
Sue moved to Hawaii in 1982 from Queensland's Sunshine Coast, Australia with her husband Hilary and two young sons. Soon after arriving in South Kona she saw the need for a preschool and started her own and began a 20 year career, teaching children the importance of honesty, integrity, trust and respect. As Sue points out these same core values apply very much in the real state business and she credits her listening, negotiating skills, patience and empathy to her former students many of whom have become her clients of today.
Sue transitioned from teaching to full time real estate in 2003 with the same enthusiasm to serve the community. According to Sue when you love what you do, it feels like fun rather than work.
Sue uses a soft, gentle approach that makes her clients feel comfortable. Her patience, tenacity and willingness to listen ensure her client's goals will be met. "Being a good listener is one of the most important aspects to being a successful realtor", she said.
