Hilary and his family moved from the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia to Hawaii in 1982 when his Australian employer offered him the job of managing the newly acquired Macfarms of Hawaii’s 4,000 acres macadamia orchard located at Kapua in South Kona. This was to have been a two-year secondment which turned into a 24-year career ending in 2006 when Hilary retired as President of Macfarms of Hawaii.
Hilary obtained a real estate license in 2003 and became a full-time realtor in 2006 when he joined his wife Sue who has been an active realtor since 2003. During the next 10 years, Hilary specialized in land and farms in North and South Kona Districts as well as the Kau District, while providing assistance to Sue with her bourgeoning career in residential property sales.
In 2016 Hilary joined his wife Sue and son Tim in the formation of a family business—Sue Brown Realty & Associates, a business that has been very successful to date.
Hilary continues to specialize in land and farms. His 38 years of residing on the Big Island together with his 34 years in the macadamia business (Australia, Costa Rica and Hawaii) make him well qualified to assist Buyers and Sellers alike.
Hilary is privileged to have dual US and Australian citizenship and to have visited many parts of the world as well as residing in two great countries. In his spare time, he is an avid gardener and enjoys time on the golf course.
